Why Height Alone Cannot Tell You Your Inseam
Height alone does not determine the inseam a customer needs.
One of the biggest misunderstandings in tall fashion is treating inseam as if every woman at a certain height should wear the same number. Body proportions vary.
Same Height, Different Proportions
Two women can be the same height and carry that height differently. One may have longer legs. Another may have a longer torso. Their ideal inseams can differ even before footwear or silhouette is considered.
The Garment Changes the Answer Too
A wide leg pant, flare, jogger, straight jean, and jumpsuit are not supposed to end in the same place. Fabric and footwear also change the preferred result.
Measure the Result You Want
A useful starting point is a pair of pants that already hits where desired. Lay the garment flat and measure the inside leg from crotch seam to hem.
Then compare that measurement with the inseam listed on the specific garment being considered.
TJL's Rule for Tall Women
Use height as context. Use measurements and garment details to make the decision.
TJL uses garment specific fit information instead of assuming one inseam solves every tall body.
